special: white bloomy smeerkees with wild garlic pesto
We didn't even want to sell these, but here we are. The pesto is made from homegrown organic wild garlic and basil. The basil does not come from our own garden, because it was a terrible year for it and what we did have, we ate ourselves.
Flore is a good Hufflepuff-Ravenclaw hybrid so she feels compelled to add a nice anecdote to this. In Dutch we call the allium ursinum "daslook" because it resembles garlic in the same way that chives resemble onions, and badgers like to live under these plants. So uhm, buy a yaaas, save a badger? You never know, maybe we'll succeed in luring them to Eemnes...
This particular variety can be kept at the bottom of your fridge for about 7 days. Please don't freeze it, though. You know the old saying - every time you freeze a yaaas, a badger dies. It's true.
